Manhattan is tops for NYC apartments with private roof decks
If a home with a roof deck is a must-have, begin your search in Manhattan. The borough landed the top spot for both private and shared roof decks with 1,627 listings with shared decks and 94 listings with private decks.
Brooklyn takes the runner-up spot with 456 listings with shared decks and 47 with private ones. The Bronx had the lowest inventory with only three listings featuring roof decks.
That’s not to say that you won’t find homes with roof decks in one of the lower ranked boroughs. The analysis does not represent the entirety of home types in a specified borough, but the amount of available sale listings currently on the market with roof decks.

While Manhattan had the most available listings with roof decks overall, they are not evenly distributed throughout the borough. Below you’ll find a breakdown of neighborhoods where buyers are most likely to land a roof deck.

- Upper East Side: 283 listings
- Upper West Side: 175 listings
- East Midtown: 158 listings
- Murray Hill: 131 listings
- Financial District: 130 listings
